2022
RocoMamas opens its first two Drive-Thrus. Spur Steak Ranches launches the Just Wingz virtual brand.
2020
In the wake of the Covid pandemic, Spur Corporation adds several virtual brands to its portfolio: Reel Sushi, Pizza Pug, Bento, Rib Shack RocoFellas (a RocoMamas offering) and CharGrill Chicken.
2018
RocoMamas exceeds 85 restaurants locally and internationally. The Group purchases Nikos Coalgrill Greek with nine franchised outlets.
2019
Executive chairman, Allen Ambor announces his retirement in 2018, effective 1 March 2019 and steps down after spending 51 years at the company he founded. Mike Bosman is appointed as the new chairman.
2015
Acquires a 51% stake in RocoMamas, a fast-casual smashburger chain with only five chains. Spur Steak Ranches launches Grill & Go.
2004
The Group acquires a 60% shareholding in John Dory’s Fish, Grill & Sushi, a KwaZulu-Natal based franchise comprising seven outlets. A further 5% interest is purchased in October 2006, and the remaining 35% is acquired on 25 January 2012, with the group now owning 100% of the business.
1986
The Group is listed on the JSE’s travel and leisure sector.
1999
The company undergoes a major restructuring which results in the formation and listing of Spur Corporation, as we know it today.
1967
Spur Steak Ranches opens its doors in Cape Town.

Acquires The Hussar Grill, an upmarket steakhouse franchise, which was founded in 1964.
2004
